Incredible Strength

“Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.  My flesh and my heart faileth:  but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  -Psalm 73:25-26

This text accurately sums up my life at this point.  I get very irritated with my flesh and my lack of spiritual fervor and devotion. I get frustrated with God’s sheep I am watching over: immaturity, gossip, pride, complaining all seem to be common among the redeemed (or professing believers).  The secularist’s hate God and are blasphemous, and the religious profess to love God but are just as blasphemous with their legalistic works and rituals that drown souls with heavy duties.  But my God who is the ROCK is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  I falter in weakness and cry out, “How long?” but I am reminded the remaining of this awesome Psalm.

“For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish:  thou has destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.  But it is good to draw near to God:  I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.”

We are memorizing these verses in Sunday morning worship, I pray that the truth of these God-breathed words will sink down deep into my heart and soul and the people that God has put under my watch care.  Oh to desire nothing but God, the Rock of Ages!
