A Parable of Victory Part 2

They had very nearly succeeded in completely shutting up Guilt and Shameful with their worship appeasements and Pleasure’s satisfaction and encouragement (he, along with Willling, is one of the most influential citizens of Mansheart).

But the truth was that the residents of the fair city had been deceived and were unaware of their origins. They thought they owed their allegiance to the great tyrant who governed them, and they had forgotten that they were made by the Great One. They had discovered though in their misery that if they covered their Shameful and Guilt’s cries with Goodness, Charity, Smile-Much and Material-Good; the sorrow subsided and they could exist for a while without much thoughts of the Great One. However, the laws of the Great One burned within many of them and they sensed that they would sink deep into the grave with no hope of life. The more they sought to dig themselves out by their law-keeping, the more their passions were inflamed against the Great One, but this is what he had intended…for now!

One day, the tinker came back! He came teaching Mansheart once again of the demands that the Great One had upon that city. These were just demands as it was already proclaimed that He truly owned that city since he had first constructed it. He had made the inhabitants, he had given them all their gifts and abilities—they were His. The tinker this time, however, explained to those who would hear that the Great One had a purpose for them. If they would call all their family and friends to a meeting the next morning, he would teach them of the Great One’s purpose. The city square was filled with curious onlookers the next morning. The tinker began to speak. Once again He spoke of the demands of the Great One, the origins of the citizens and how they owed their allegiance to the Great One for making them. He read from the Book and showed them how the Great One had made each of them with a very powerful purpose. Their purpose was to live in harmony and delight walking and talking with the Great One as his dear ones. The crowd loved this message, who would not love to hear of the Great One’s purpose of fellowship with them. But then the tinker began to tell the citizens of how a big lie entered the world. How that an unholy being had driven their ancestors from the Great One, causing them to rebel. This they could understood by their own experience and received the tinker’s words readily. But when he spoke to them of Mansheart inherent  inability to return to the Great One and the truth that they were serving the evil tyrant of the city of their own will (the tyrant who came to power because of the great lie, but we will talk more about him later); when he spoke of their rebellion and hatred for the Great One and their wicked allegiance to the tyrant and their disobedience to the Great One’s laws, many rose with anger and pointed to their communities of worship and houses of faith. How dare this tinker tell them they were unworthy to fellowship with the Great One! The crowd began to disperse and murmuring could be heard all over the city. A small group comprised of True-Knowledge, Conscience and Much-Wisdom as well as other citizens stayed to hear more. These few were cut to the quick, knowing deep down that they were indeed unworthy to approach the Great One, yet without the ability to describe what was happening, like the wind blowing upon the trees, they were receiving a mixture of joy and sorrow at this news.

With these few teachable ones, the tinker poured out his life. He taught them further of their ancestors and the many rebellions that had taken place. He also told them of the remnant of faith-filled ones, other cities, who had obeyed and served with love the Great One. He told them of the promise that the Great One himself had made. That he would send his own Son, a Son of equal essence and Divinity who would appease the justice the Great One demanded while preserving the cities which believe. This was a great mystery to the citizens. “How could he do both?” they wondered, “How could he retain his perfect and just character while still fellowshiping with our rebellious city? We are unworthy, we have broken his laws?” The tinker told them of how the Great One did send his Son some time ago. How his Son was the same in essence to the Great One and how their ancestors murdered the Son of the Great One because they hated his plan of rescue. He told them that the Great One’s Son could not stay dead, but rose from the dead and now is united once again with the Great One. He told them that the Great One promises eternal life for that city that hates their old tyrant and rejects their own worship rituals and charitable deeds. He told them from the book that if they will leave that tyrant and by faith follow the Son of the Great One, He will completely forgive them of their rebellion and law breaking-He will give them access to His own throne-and their city would once again return to the Great One purchased by Him. He explained that all this is possible because when the Son of the Great One died, he took their lawlessness upon himself;  and he, being perfect, satisfied the justice that was owed upon everyone who had served that evil tyrant. This news by the tinker sounded so good…but was it too good to be true? Could the Great One really destroy the Tyrant and free them from his power simply by trusting in him?

To be continued. . .
