BIG

My God is so big!  In the littlest things of life He is so kind and gracious.  Let me share a short account of how God has blessed us recently.  The current economic strains have been very difficult for us recently.  Two boys in diapers, one still on the bottle and baby food, the rising gas and food prices all have nudged our outflow up without an increase in the inflow-I know this is the case with many people today. Last Monday, the 25 of August, was my wife’s birthday.  I was disheartened that I had no resources to buy her a present and so I prayed that God might see fit to do something about it, if it was His desire.  Friday afternoon, a dear lady in our church who had recently broken her leg, called me and not knowing that it was Bonnie’s birthday, told us that she had two tickets to the Hale Center Theatre (a theater in the round in Salt Lake that puts on very high quality productions).  Because of her broken leg she would be unable to attend their planned evening on Monday night.  Immediately I said that I would be delighted to take them off of her hands (of course I expressed my sympathies that she and her husband would not be attending) and then began praising God for this small token of his love and kindness to us.  My dear wife who just turned 29 and I enjoyed a delightful evening with my mother as babysitter, watching the 1980’s movie “Big” starring Tom Hanks turned into a Broadway musical.  It was great–the acting was superb, the costumes and journey down memory lane was fantastic, and the characters drew us into the story of the boy who just “wanted to be big.”  We thoroughly enjoyed the evening.  Dwight and Betty, thank you for being used of God in blessing us.  But I have been impressed that God is truly BIG even in the smallest of our desires.  I thank you God for being the Big God of provision when we really need it, and so often being the Big God of provision for the things that just make us smile.
